There are many reasons as to why Jesus came into this world, that we cannot even comprehend and might find out more when we get to heaven but let us now look at some of the obvious just straight out of the Bible.
“God in the beginning created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep” says the very first of the verse of the Bible. And God said “Let there be light, and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.” (Genesis 1:1,2). God then created man who gave into sin and lost the God-given glory. Adam so failed in bowing down to an outlaw spirit and surrendered the glory of God, leading the entire mankind down with him into sin.
As the old adage goes, like father like son, so are we so easily getting ensnared by “the sin that so easily entangles” (Refer Hebrews 12:1) just like our forefather Adam. We were paying for what Adam did until God sent His Son at a set time. But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons (Galatians 4:4,5).
Where the first Adam failed, the last Adam as Jesus is noted, triumphs (Refer 1 Corinthians 15:45). Jesus exemplified the true man that God intended – “He knew no sin (Refer 2 Corinthians 5:21), He did no sin (Refer 1 Peter 2:22) and in Him was no sin (Refer 1 John 3:5)”. He lived the exact imprint of life that God wanted for man, and becoming a substitute for us went to the cross, nailed our sins and thereby crushed our adversary overcoming, disarming and putting the evil one to open shame (Refer Colossians 2:15). And in that, God through Jesus pulled us out of the grip of Sin from darkness and transformed us into the kingdom of His Beloved Son (Refer Colossians 1:13), just as how we saw God, in the beginning, separated light from darkness.
We see in Galatians 4:5 that, Jesus redeemed us from under the law, so we might become sons of God and fellow heirs with Him. And so now we could rightfully call God, “Abba, Father!” and by doing so, like father like son, we are being transformed into His image from glory to glory (Refer 2 Corinthians 3:18). “For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.” (Romans 6:14)
Jesus was born a man so that He could take our place. The title “son of God” that once Adam had and lost (Refer Luke 3:38), is now restored to every one of us who believe in Jesus Christ. (Refer John 1:12). Jesus is our mediator, our advocate, and our High Priest who satisfied all righteous requirements of God, the Father on the cross and took His very own blood into the heavens and sat down at the right hand of God, thus securing our eternal redemption. (Refer Hebrews 9:12)
Thanks be to our Lord Jesus Christ that He was born a man and took our place and thanks be to God the Father – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16). Merry Christmas!
